In Sam & MaRU, you play as Sam, a new programmer at a robotics company called Singularity Corporation. As Sam, you have to solve a number of tasks by programming a maintenance robot called MaRU. These tasks will have Sam navigating MaRU through the factory at Singularity and solving problems that manifest themselves in the world. As you progress through the game, Sam begins to realize that Singularity may not be operating with mankind’s best interest at heart. Can you help her get to the bottom of Singularity’s plans?
On its face, Sam & MaRU seems like a simple level-based puzzle game in which each level becomes more difficult and intricate than the next; however, the focus of the game is not the level-based puzzles, but rather what is discovered through these puzzles. This game intertwines familiar science fiction themes with an exciting narrative to engage the player in both the individual levels and play spaces of the game as well as the overarching ethical dilemma presented. To solve the puzzles, players must program their way through trick doors, repair broken gates, and navigate obstacles.
